Ching Chang Walla
|
anyone else remember playing rock, paper, scissors as a kid and calling it or shouting out 'Ching Chang Walla'? I told my kids that's what it's called and they didn't believe me.

I tell a lie actually, after a little bit of research, the Pull the trigger one was for doing handstands.
Everyone would line up, and one person would say it and everyone would try to do a handstand for as long as possible. The person who did it the longest won obviously.
We definitely picked who was in for tiggy with Eenie Meanie Mine Moe though.

When we were in primary school, we used to start to start a game of tiggy (or tag to you probably) by saying:
Nigger Nigger Pull The Trigger Pop Bang Go
Fuck knows where that came from.
We also used to pick someone to be "In" with
Enie Meanie Minie Moe Catch a Nigger by the toe If he sqeals let him go Enie Meanie Minie Moe
It appears that racism was alive and well in school playgrounds in NZ in the early 80's.

I haven't a clue what any of this is about. But if it's making people take mock offence I'm all for it.

More offensive that you now call it 'rock paper scissors'. Where I grew up - IN ENGLAND - it was 'paper, stone, scissors'. I guess you also played tic-tac toe and hide and go seek?

Yes. I remember this being used. About the same time as calling people joeys and that 'skill' was a bum disease

Apparently, Ching Chang Walla is a expression for the game which was at one time restricted to East London (admittedly, it had spread with the Cockneys to South Essex by the time I grew up).
West Ham is a team from East London.

Quite apart from the fact that this could barely be farther removed from anything to do with West Ham, it's complete bollocks as well.
I've been bored before. We all have. But to invent such a completely outlandish lie but to keep the fantasy as boring and irrelevant as this takes the mind of a madman.
This is a suicide waiting to happen. Hopefully soon.
